When do bad habits become addictions? Are addictions simply the end result of a pattern of bad habits? Sorting out the difference between a bad habit and an addiction is critical for helping individuals deal more responsibly with their struggle to break bad habit patterns or combat the seemingly irresistible pull of an addiction.

Addiction is a word that is used quite frequently in our culture for activities that feel out of control. But what is an addiction? Is it a psychological disorder, a chemical imbalance, or a spiritual problem? Or is and addiction all three? When there is an seemingly gravitational pull that is irresistible, then there is reason to consider that one is addicted.
