Young Women Captivate with 'Just A Closer Walk With Thee' Duet

Two young women captivate with their moving and powerful “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” duet.

Hymns are beautiful pieces of music that are severely underutilized. Most places of worship have opted for contemporary Christian music, basically eliminating hymns from their Sunday morning services. That’s sad because hymns, while they may be hundreds of years old in some cases, are still as relevant today as when they were first written.

Hymns tell of Christ’s love, forgiveness, mercy, grace and faithfulness. Those ideas and concepts will never go out of style. They are why people gather weekly to praise and worship the Lord.

In a clip posted on YouTube, two young women beautifully perform one of those beloved classic hymns: “Just a Closer Walk with Thee.” Most people are undoubtedly familiar with this hymn, but that doesn’t make it any less meaningful and powerful.

The moving lyrics are what every Christian and follower of Christ should desire. Everyone who has confessed their sins, turned from their ways and accepted Christ as their Savior should want a closer relationship with the Lord.

“Just a closer walk with Thee

Grant it; Jesus is my plea

Daily walking close to Thee

Let it be, dear Lord, let it be”

As the Bible says, all are sinners and have fallen short of the glory of God. Everyone desperately needs the forgiveness of sin freely offered by Jesus Christ. Once one has been forgiven and cleansed from their sins, that person should strive daily to become closer to Him.

Of course, one develops a closer walk with Thee by consistently getting into and reading God’s Word. Also, the most critical aspect of a daily walk with the Lord is consistent and continual prayer. It’s hard to have a relationship with anyone without communication.

Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is not possible to be well-pleasing to him, for it is necessary for anyone who comes to God to have the belief that God is, and that he is the rewarder of all those who make a serious search for him.”

'When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder' Gets a Beautiful Instrumental Cover

The classic and beloved hymn “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder” gets a beautiful instrumental cover.

Life can be challenging at times. Sadly, that’s simply a part of being a human and living on Earth. Trials, hardships and tribulations have a way of finding all of us at one time or another. No one will be able to escape life without enduring such times. Many of those dark valleys and storms will leave their mark, leaving you battered and bruised.

But whatever we experience in this life, God has promised to remain faithful, staying by our side. Sometimes, we’re pushed to the brink, and it feels like God has completely withdrawn from the situation. However, that is not the case because He has never let us down, and there is no reason to believe He will ever do so.

Whatever pain, hurt, struggle or heartache we endure on Earth will all be worth it when we make it to heaven. It will be a time for rejoicing and reuniting with loved ones who have gone on ahead of us. It will also be when we finally see our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In a clip posted on YouTube, an incredibly talented group of musicians performs a lovely instrumental version of “When the Roll is Called up Yonder.” Of course, this is a hymn many are familiar with, and it is about finally making it to our eternal home: heaven.

For those who may not be as familiar with the hymn, the lyrics appear at the bottom of the screen throughout the short, nearly two-and-a-half-minute video.

What a wonderful day that will be! Can you even imagine what heaven will be like? That’s almost too much of an overwhelming idea even to try to process.

John 14:2 “In my Father’s house are rooms enough; if it was not so, would I have said that I am going to make ready a place for you?”

Dolly Parton's '9 to 5' Gets a Fantastic Cover

Enjoy this fun and unique—yet not entirely different—version of Dolly Parton’s classic hit ‘9 to 5,’ a fantastic cover, compliments of Robyn Adele Anderson

Joined by five musicians, Robyn sings a jazzier, though not peppier, rendition of Dolly’s 1980 country pop song from the comedy movie of the same name. Here, there is less twang and more cool. The 40s wardrobe that Robyn wears, the jazz instruments, and the nightclub setting provide quite a contrast to the way we first saw ‘9 to 5’ performed.

Robyn commented on the post that the song reminded her of ‘Sweet Little Angel Eyes,’ which was featured in the movie Polly. A musical version of Pollyanna, Polly featured a predominantly Black cast and touched on segregation in the pre-civil rights era South.

Robyn noted that, “The music in the movie has a mix of gospel, Motown, and blues, all of which share roots with a lot of country music! I essentially made my own little mashup incorporating elements of the music from Polly into ‘9 to 5’ - I think Dolly Parton would be proud!”

Whatever influences Robyn drew upon, her variation is a delight!

Users applauded the performance, saying:

“It's great seeing you express your artistic creativity in the arrangements.”

“Once again, you assemble a very talented group of musicians and create a wonderful rendition of a song. Thank you for sharing.”

“A great cover of a working person’s theme song!  Having had the pleasure of working with the lady herself, I am positive she would love this cover of this iconic tune.”

While Robyn is singing about the daily drudge, she and her crew seem to barely break a sweat during the number; they make the music appear effortless. Commenters don’t just appreciate Robyn. Several mention the band members. Bass player Georgia Weber is a fan favorite. The saxophonist, Ben Golder-Novick, had a nice solo, and Jacob Melsha on the trombone is super chill!

Robyn gives a little wink at the end, which adds a final touch of flair to a performance filled with personality. Check out more of Robyn Adele Anderson at her YouTube channel, where music from bygone decades, as well as the garbs and getups from those time periods, can be found!

Harpist Delivers Breathtakingly Beautiful Cover of 'Hallelujah'

Prepare for a stunning and unique performance. Harpist delivers a breathtakingly beautiful cover of ‘Hallelujah.’

You can hear her impeccable talent and skills revealed within each note that is strung. Her tone painting is thoughtful and peaceful. Listening to each verse tells the story of the song ‘Hallelujah’, and it leads to the chorus with elevated moments.

Each verse has its own creative flare. She plays in various octaves and keeps the listener intrigued with what she will do next. As she plays, the backdrop of the first begins to get brighter. Hearing her harp play this song gives us an audible representation of King David himself who played the harp. This peaceful and relaxing instrument is often a rarity today. You do not often meet a harpist. This special skill is admirable and enjoyable for many.

The artist’s name is Naomi SV. She is a talented harpist. She appears to not even miss a single note. She is phenomenal and does a brilliant job playing at a high level and with such poise. She is the epitome of a wonderful harp player.

The beginning of ‘Hallelujah’ lyrics in verse one says:

‘Now I've heard there was a secret chord

That David played, and it pleased the Lord’

Hearing ‘Hallelujah’ on the harp reminds us of the hallelujah that David gave to the Lord. He was a man described after God’s heart, who was for sure a sinner, but delighted in worshiping the Lord and knew where his help came from. May hearing this song on the harp remind us of how the Lord sees us too today and we matter to Him. May it inspire us to seek God with all of our hearts.

“And whenever the tormenting spirit from God troubled Saul, David would play the harp. Then Saul would feel better, and the tormenting spirit would go away.” 1 Samuel 16:23

Stevie Wonder's 'I Just Called To Say I Love You' Gets Stunning A Cappella Makeover

One of Stevie Wonder’s most beloved, classic songs, “I Just Called to Say I Love You,” has received a stunning a cappella makeover.

Musicians covering and performing the work of other musicians is a long-standing tradition and practice. It has likely been happening since humans first started making sounds and creating music, and it is sure to be something that every musician continues to do.

Every musician and band performs covers at some point in their career. Go to any concert, and you’re nearly guaranteed to hear those musicians cover someone else’s song at some point during the show. Who doesn’t want to hear someone else’s version and interpretation of a classic song? It probably won’t reach the level of the original, but as long as it’s not downright awful and butchers the original, no harm, no foul, right?

In a clip posted on YouTube, one large choir, SmorgasChorus, gave a new twist to Stevie Wonder’s “I Just Called to Say I Love You.” You surely have not heard the song performed this way before. The only instrument used during the performance was the one given to the vocalists by the Lord: their voices.

Most people are incredibly familiar with Stevie’s original and can likely sing the tune’s catchy and iconic chorus entirely from memory. It’s a song that is beloved by many. So, the members of SmorgasChorus had a high mark to hit, which they reached and exceeded.

This happy, joyful and incredibly upbeat performance shows the power of the human voice. The many voices work perfectly together, creating a pleasant and beautiful sound. This is one a cappella cover that you are likely to return to repeatedly.

Not only do the guys turn in a fabulous vocal cover, but they also add some theatrics to their performance. Several choir members are seen pulling out their phones at various times throughout the clip. Of course, this is in keeping up with the lyrics of the classic tune.

Ephesians 5:19 “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;”

Alabama’s performance was proof of their enduring fans both new and old alike and the timelessness of their music. As the final notes faded and the audience’s thunderous applause filled the air, it was clear that ‘Mountain Music’ continues to be more than just a song—it’s an anthem that connects generations, reminding us all of the power of music to bring people together.

There’s nothing quite like a song to bring us all together.

Colossians 3:15 "And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful."

Ray Stevens Wows with Wonderful Live Performance of 'Dry Bones'

Ray Stevens wows with a wonderful live performance of ‘Dry Bones.’ Ray has long been known for his ability to blend humor, storytelling, and music into performances that leave audiences both entertained and inspired. His recent live performance on Larry’s Diner was no exception. With a lively beat, an engaging story, and a message rooted in the Good Book, Ray once again proved why he’s a beloved figure in both the music and Christian communities.

As the cameras rolled and the stage lights lit up, Ray took his place with a joyful energy that immediately captivated the audience. The setting of Larry’s Diner—with its warm, nostalgic atmosphere—provided the perfect backdrop for the upbeat and peppy rendition of this classic spiritual song. ‘Dry Bones,’ based on the biblical story found in Ezekiel 37, tells of the prophet Ezekiel’s vision where God breathes life into a valley of dry bones, bringing them together to form a living, breathing army.

Ray’s performance was nothing short of captivating. With his signature charm and a playful twinkle in his eye, he brought the story of Ezekiel’s vision to life in a way that was both fun and meaningful. The rhythm of the song was infectious, and as Ray sang each part—connecting the bones from toe to head—the audience couldn’t help but tap their feet and clap along. It was a performance that was as much about participation as it was about listening.

What made the moment even more special was Ray’s ability to weave the biblical narrative into the music, making it accessible and enjoyable for everyone. The song itself, with its catchy tune and repetitive lyrics, serves as a reminder of God’s power to restore and renew even the driest and most lifeless situations. Ray’s joyful delivery emphasized the hope and assurance that comes from knowing that God can bring life where there seems to be none.

As the song reached its final chorus, the energy in the room was palpable. Ray’s voice carried the message with clarity and conviction: God is the God of life, the One who breathes new life into what was once dead. It was a powerful reminder that no situation is beyond God’s reach and that in His hands, even the driest bones can be revived.

In the end, Ray’s performance wasn’t just a musical moment; it was a celebration of faith, life, and the unshakeable truth that God is always at work, bringing life to the places that need it most. Through his talent and joyful spirit, Ray Stevens delivered a message that left everyone uplifted, inspired, and maybe even a little bit more connected to the amazing story of Ezekiel and the dry bones.

Ezekiel 37:5 "This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life."

Elderly Couple Groove to Hall Oates' 'You Make My Dreams (Come True)'

A sweet, cute elderly couple moved and grooved to the Daryl Hall and John Oates classic "You Make My Dreams (Come True)."

Aging is a natural process that cannot be stopped. We may not like it, but what will we do to prevent it from happening? No one has devised a way to do so or to travel back in time. The odds and outlook for someone designing a way to reverse time do not look promising either. So, why not accept it and try to have fun with it?

While it's impossible to stop birthdays from coming around, we can impact how our bodies feel as we age to a certain extent. Every doctor stresses the importance of getting daily exercise, which can take many different forms. We must get up, move and do something that keeps us active, whatever form that may take.

Larry, 88, and Connie, 80, prefer to get their exercise on the dance floor. The couple consistently posts short videos of themselves on social media in which they strut their stuff to any number of classic tunes. It doesn't matter what the song is; Larry and Connie will find a way to show off their moves and have a ball while doing it.

In one of their latest posts, Larry and Connie show off their fancy footwork to Hall and Oates' 1980 hit "You Make My Dreams (Come True)." It's a catchy tune that will get you singing and may even get you up on your feet dancing with Larry and Connie.

Once again, Larry and Connie's short clip is nothing but pure joy. That couple shows that just because you hit a certain age doesn't mean you have to leave the dance floor. In fact, you ought to get out there even more often!

Psalm 149:3 "Let them give praise to his name in the dance: let them make melody to him with instruments of brass and corded instruments of music."
