Sarah Schieber - The Long October Road

I heard a wonderful song on the radio the other day called "Christmas In Heaen." It was by a snger I had never neard of, Sarah Schieber. Lovely song. This video is not for that song, though (do a YouTube search and find the official video for that song; it's very touching.)

So, after hearing Sarah sing "Christmas In Heaven" I did a little more digging. Her story is amazing. In October 2007, when she was 31, she and her husband Chad were running in the Chicago Marathon. Chad collapsed during the race and died. Several months later she recorded a CD called "The Long October Road", mostly a commeration to Chad. Here's a video I made for the title song. Thank you Sarah, and thank you Chad for your service during your too-short life.

I normally superimpose the lyrics on my videos, just for effect. I chose not to do so for this one for some reason. I didn't find it necessary and thought it would be a distraction.

The song was written by her producer Paul Marino.

Dara Maclean - Find Rest

The closing cut from Dara Maclean's album "Wanted." What a beautiful way to end an album. Dara co-wrote the song along with Paul Mabury and Paul Duncan. Yeah, I realize that the lyrics apply equally as well to guys, but I chose to use exclusively images of women in this video. It just felt like a woman song.

Victims Lose by Default

A victim mentality affects all of us to some degree. It creeps into our thinking unawares. That's why it is so insidious. And while we are easily critical of other people who just give in to health challenges without a fight, we often overlook our own laziness in resisting sickness and disease.

The lazy person claims, ‘“There's a lion out there! If I go outside, I might be killed!'“ Proverbs 22:13 (NLT)

To live with sickness and disease is to admit that the pursuit of God's standard of healthy living—through God's methods—is just too risky to pursue.

And we all have our lions, which will keep us from our future if we don't deal with them.
