What happens when we grow tired of waiting on God and secretly start chasing after modern idols to fix our problems?

In this episode of the Praying Christian Women podcast, Jaime takes us through a beautiful and revealing journey into Psalm 16. While this "Miktam" (a golden psalm or covering) was written by David during a time of peril and struggle, it brings up a crucial spiritual check-up on where we place our trust that every believer needs to hear.

Jaime highlights a profound spiritual warning found in the text, discussing the danger of "bartering for another god." As she reads through the psalm, she unpacks the modern temptation to turn to worldly idols or take control ourselves during seasons of unanswered prayer, reminding us that chasing these false comforts will only multiply our sorrows rather than fix our frustrations.

Then, she unpacks the powerful reality of David’s internal life and his stunning prophetic vision. By exploring how the

Holy Spirit counsels our innermost being in our darkest nights, Jaime reveals a beautiful, grace-filled perspective on resting in God's presence. Could David’s ancient declaration that God would not abandon his soul to decay actually be the exact prophecy of Christ's resurrection that we need to anchor our faith today?

Whether you are in a season of waiting on a miracle, struggling to love imperfect fellow believers, or simply needing a reminder that your soul is completely secure, we hope this prayerful episode encourages you to turn away from false idols, rest in His midnight counsel, and choose to find fullness of joy in His presence!

A Prayer for Teachers, Leaders, and Caregivers | Your Nightly Prayer

Some of the people who pour the most into our lives receive the least recognition.

The teacher who stays a little longer.

The nurse who treats someone like a person instead of a patient.

The caregiver who keeps showing up.

The counselor who listens.

The leader who puts people ahead of status.

Jesus says in Matthew 25:40:

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

Tonight, let's thank God for the people who have quietly served us—and ask Him to help us notice opportunities to do the same.

A Prayer for Those Who Spend Their Lives Caring for Others

Teachers, nurses, caregivers, counselors, leaders, and countless others quietly pour themselves out for the people around them every day.

Inspired by Matthew 25:40, this Your Nightly Prayer devotional reminds us that when we lovingly serve others, our service matters deeply to Christ.

Tonight, thank God for someone who has cared for you—and ask Him to show you who you can serve in return.

A Prayer When You Are Desperate | Your Daily Prayer

Are you desperate for God to move in a situation that has caused pain for far too long?

In Mark 5, a woman who had suffered for twelve years reached through the crowd toward Jesus in faith. Jesus saw her, called her “Daughter,” and met her desperation with compassion.

This prayer is for anyone who feels exhausted from waiting, hurting, or wondering whether God sees what they are carrying.

Come to Jesus honestly today. Ask for His help, trust His heart, and remember that even when His answer unfolds differently than expected, you are never invisible to Him.

“Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” — Mark 5:34

9/11 Survivor ‘Cried Out to Jesus’ as the South Tower Collapsed Around Him

9/11 survivor Sujo John was working on the 81st floor of the World Trade Center’s North Tower when the first plane struck on Sept. 11, 2001, mere feet from his desk. Remarkably, John survived, as did his pregnant wife, who worked in the South Tower but was running late that morning. Twenty-five years later, John explains how 9/11 transformed his life and eventually led him to found You Can Free Us, a nonprofit that fights human trafficking and helps rescue and rehabilitate women and children.

Praying Through Psalm 15: The Danger of a Hypocritical Heart

What happens when our outward words sound "nice," but our internal thoughts lack true integrity?

In this episode of the Praying Christian Women podcast, Jaime takes us through a unique and deeply reflective journey into Psalm 15. While David’s description of a "citizen of Zion" might seem like a simple checklist for good behavior, it brings up a crucial spiritual integrity check that every believer needs to hear.

Jaime highlights a profound practice by switching up her usual format, demonstrating how to use Scripture as a direct "springboard for prayer." As she reads verse-by-verse, she pauses to pray through the heavy convictions of the text, specifically discussing the danger of speaking life-giving words outwardly while secretly harboring hypocritical or ugly thoughts in our hearts.

Then, she unpacks the powerful contrast between what the world values and what God truly honors. By praying against the temptation to elevate worldly charisma over righteousness, Jaime reveals a beautiful, grace-filled perspective on aligning our value systems with the Lord's. Could asking God to convict us of our hidden thoughts in real-time actually be the exact tool He uses to make our faith unshakeable?

Whether you are in a season of struggling with internal resentment, realizing you've been swayed by worldly success, or simply need a reminder to let your word be your bond, we hope this prayerful episode encourages you to examine your heart, use God's Word as a springboard for your own prayer life, and choose to walk with true integrity!

He Saw an Elderly Woman in Trouble And Stopped to Help

Get ready to see a modern-day good Samaritan story. Watch as a man makes a decision when he sees an elderly woman in trouble and stops to help. Get ready to be inspired and encouraged.

The video clip begins, and you see a terrible sight. This is a horrible moment for this woman, and instead of being left on the side of the road, her story has a happy ending.

A man identified as Carter Ryan Patrick stepped in as a hero. He saw an elderly woman in trouble in Stuart, Florida, as he was driving past. The woman hit a pot hole and was lying down with her wheelchair stranded in the heat of the summer Florida sun. You can see in the video clip that he apparently sent to a close friend. The friend ended up posting the video. His friend shares that Carter will probably not like that he shared his good deed with the world. However, this man needed to be recognized, and his decision to care for another person is inspiring to so many around the world.

This Story Offers an Important Reminder

He saw an elderly woman in trouble. Carter helps Miss Minnie get back into her wheelchair and begins to head towards her home. She wanted to go back on her own, but he got her there safe and sound. Seeing this man take notice of this elderly woman and go to her aid reminds us of the importance of looking around each day and seeing who is nearby. We never know when someone will be in need of our help, too. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can be prayerful and watchful to be good Samaritans too.

“But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.” Luke 10:33-34

A Lightning Strike Took Everything. Then A Little Boy Handed His Dad His Life Savings

A lightning strike took everything. Then a little boy handed his dad his life savings. The dad was so touched by his 9-year-old's generosity.

Casey Pettus was driving in Utah when his work truck with all of his tools was struck by lightning. He was able to get out of the vehicle just in time before it caught on fire, but the truck and none of his tools are salvageable.

He had noticed one of his tires was leaking air and was on the phone with his brother, who urged him to pull over and get help.

"I was like, no, I can make it to the tire store," Casey recalled. “Then, just as we're talking... boom! I just get rocked."

It took him a few moments to realize that his vehicle must have been struck by lightning. He was completely unharmed.

His Son’s Touching Response

When he got home that day, his 9-year-old son handed him money that he had saved from taking out neighbors’ trash. He had been saving for a dirtbike, but wanted to help his dad get new tools after the lightning strike took everything. At the time, both father and son were in tears.

Casey did not accept the money, but was so touched by what his son did. It meant more to him than the money ever could. As any parent would be, he is very proud of his son.

"In the midst of the chaos and the crazy stories and the very real dramatic things that happen to us in life, there are those sweet souls that can instantly bring light and joy into your life," he said. "He's one of them, and that was a moment that we had.”

After a lightning strike took everything, it’s great to know that this dad had a great support system.

Virginia Santa Claus Gives Kidney to Special Resident in Need

Christmas came early for one lucky person this year. A very generous Virginia Santa Claus gives a kidney to a special resident in need. It’s the greatest gift he could give.

Dave Bell has played Santa Claus for residents of Virginia for many years. However, this year, he wanted to do more than just make people smile; he wanted to save someone’s life. He achieved that by donating a kidney.

He hopes that his “small” act of kindness helps make the world a better place. To him, the reason for donating is simple.

“It’s kind of selfish if I’m at the lunch table and I have two apples and two sandwiches, and the child beside me opens their lunchbox, and they have nothing, and I don’t give them an apple and a sandwich. It’s the same thing with kidneys,” Dave says. “I have two kidneys. I only need one. They have none,” he explained

It’s just so sweet that this Santa Claus would give a kidney to someone who needs it. He was very determined to donate, and after not meeting the weight requirements, he lost 40 pounds just so that he could have the procedure.

A Powerful Reminder of Love Your Neighbor as Yourself

“The moment I found out you can do this and still live, it’s just a no-brainer decision,” he said. “If you can do this, do it,” he tells others.

Dr. Amanda Bailey at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital says the mortality rate for those living on dialysis is high, and there aren’t enough deceased donors, which means more living people need to altruistically donate to help those in need.

“They really are saving somebody’s life,” she said

Kidneys are the most needed organs of all. Over 90,000 people in the U.S. alone are currently waiting for a donor kidney. Sadly, many of them will die without a new kidney because of the lack of donors.

Dave’s efforts are so admirable. I hope the person who received Dave’s kidney knows how hard this Santa Claus worked to give it to them.
