Father and Son Surprise Woman With New Farm Stand After Thieves Steal Hers on Opening Day

A father and son in Rhode Island surprise a woman with a new farm stand after thieves steal hers on opening day. It’s so tragic, but this son and dad saw it as an opportunity to bring hope back to a woman who wanted to pursue her dream of baking. The woman and her family were so blessed by this kindness from two strangers.

Katrinia Blancaflor is a retired pastry chef. But after leaving the restaurant scene to become a mother of two, she found she wasn’t ready to put down the rolling pin. So after months of asking her husband to make her a small stand to put at the end of her driveway to sell baked goods, he finally did. It took him months to finish.

They rolled it out to the end of their driveway and went to bed, ready to fill it with breads and sweets in the morning. But when Katrina’s husband looked out at their yard, he didn’t see the stand anywhere.

"He came in. I was still laying in bed. He's like, 'The stand is gone.' I jumped out of bed. I was like, 'What? Are you sure?" Katrina said. "I mostly felt bad that he worked so hard on it and we didn't even get to use it."

Father and Son Save the Day

Katrina asked neighbors on social media if they saw anything. One neighbor showed security footage of an SUV driving away with it at 2 am.

Katrina and her family were so sad. But then a father and son noticed and made a huge effort to surprise her with a new one. John and Casey Adams own a construction business, and when they saw what happened, they wanted to help her. They got her husband’s original blueprints and surprised her. She and her family were overwhelmed with happiness. And she can’t wait to start baking again.

Quick Thinking UPS Driver Saves the Day

A quick-thinking UPS driver saves the day after a man accidentally sees his birthday present. When UPS driver Rick Wilson showed up to deliver a package, the homeowner, Hannah Pierce, caught him just in time. Thanks to technology and a great delivery guy, the special gift was kept a secret.

When Rick stopped by the door to leave the express package for Hannah, she quickly caught his attention on the doorbell camera.

“Hide it if you can because it’s a present for Jason,” Hannah told Rick, not wanting her fiancé, Jason, to open the door.

When Jason actually did open the door, Rick told him, “I don’t have a delivery. I got the wrong house.”

He then searched around for the perfect spot so Jason wouldn’t find the package before Hannah got home from work. He settled on a spot under the side gate.

“I owe you one, Rick. "God, I love you,” Hannah told him, relieved.

How One Person Can Make a Big Difference

Everyone in Auburn, New York, is lucky to have a delivery guy like Rick, a simple UPS driver who saves the day for his customers.

“It was mind-blowing. I didn't expect him to go above and beyond. And as soon as he did, I was, my heart sank because a lot of people wouldn't do this,” Hannah said. “Half the time I get packages, and they're kind of just thrown on the porch or not in the best places. But Rick takes his job very seriously, and he's one of the best, if not the best.”

Rick is well known in their community and has been a UPS driver for at least 25 years, Hannah says. He’s also a great singer and has his own rock cover band called Infinity CNY. He just gets cooler and cooler.

He’s already well-known for his voice, but now he’s getting more well-deserved credit as a UPS driver who saved the day.

4-Year-Old Girl Battling Leukemia 'Marries' Her Favorite Nurse in a Heartwarming Hospital Wedding

About 11 years ago, a 4-year-old girl battling leukemia 'married' her favorite nurse in a heartwarming hospital wedding. Now, she’s cancer-free and thriving, and she and her 'husband'—her favorite nurse from the Albany Medical Center in New York—still keep in touch. It’s the sweetest thing you’ll ever see.

Abby Sayles, who was a 4-year-old girl battling leukemia at the time, told her mom that she wanted to marry her favorite nurse, Matt Hickling. So, in less than 2024 hours, the hospital staff made it happen. Abby wore a white dress and had nurses for bridesmaids—and there was even cake and rings. Well, ring pops, anyway.

At that point, the two knew each other well. He had been Abby’s nurse for over a year.

"Abby herself is really bright and charismatic. She has a smile that can light up a room or the whole center, really," Matt said at the time. "She has a face you really can't forget."

Abby’s Story Didn’t End There

Abby said it was “the best day ever” as her dream had suddenly come true. The following year, Abby had her last day with Matt at the hospital. She picked out some things for Matt as a goodbye gift and hugged him in the room where they got married. The family again thanked him for the years of support and friendship he’s given to Abby.

On August 2nd of this year, Abby’s mom said she is now cancer-free and thriving. She and Matt still talk every now and then.

It is just so sweet that a 4-year-old girl battling leukemia got to 'marry' her nurse. A lot of little girls have had similar wishes, which, of course, naturally go unfulfilled. So it is wonderful that Abby got to have the day she dreamed about.

Watch This 16-Year-Old Lifeguard Refuse to Give Up

You have got to watch this 16-year-old lifeguard refuse to give up on a 10-year-old who was swept out in the surf. When wave after wave comes after them, 16-year-old Ryder Williams never lets go. It’s so inspiring and encouraging to watch.

The 10-year-old swimmer, Nathaniel, was swept away by waves not far from Seabright Beach’s shore in Santa Cruz, California. Several beach-goers tried to rescue him before Ryder ran into the surf. He held him for many minutes as Ryder and others tried to pull him to shore while wave after wave enveloped them.

"I radioed it in, threw my radio and sunglasses at the base of my tower as I ran toward the kid," Ryder said. "I put my fins on my wrist, popped my buoy, and entered the water to get ahold of the child."

Once they made it back to the shore with help, paramedics checked out the 10-year-old, who lost consciousness during the event, and found him to be okay.

The Families' Response to the Lifeguards' Heroism

Ryder’s mother said, “He was just doing the job that he absolutely loves.”

Ryder also said that he loves his job and expressed gratitude for other lifeguards who put their lives on the line to save those in the water.

Nathaniel’s father, Sumit Rai, said he is extremely grateful for the 16-year-old lifeguard. Without him, he doesn’t know if Nathanial could have survived the relentless waves.

"Another two or three seconds, I don't think my son would have made it,” Sumit said

It is amazing to see how Ryder held onto Nathaniel the entire time, without letting go. There were times when the water put both of them under, but Ryder always held onto the 10-year-old. This is the kind of courage and strength that’s required of anyone in a critical-services role, and I’m sure the Santa Cruz beach is proud to have Ryder on its team.
