Have you ever been told tradition was bad? Tradtions in the Catholic sense is about oral teachings and their equal weight of authority. As an earlier protestant, I was taught that the bible was the only source of authority. This view is a protestant belief started by Luther in the 1600's via 'sola-scriptura', which protestants like to use because of the fancy wordings which really mean 'scripture alone'. We're about to look at apostolic traditions that are welcomed from that scripture alone.
When I first heard that the Catholic church kept tradition as well as sacred scripture, it was confusing at first. It was simply because I didn't know, and I overlooked it the bible. I can assume this for everyone else who grew up in today's protestant circles too. After you read these verses from your very own bible, it should become very clear that 'scripture alone' is a false teaching, which attempts to remove any apostolic tradition outside of scripture. Christ's church teaches through sacred scripture and by tradition. These are my notes on tradition while studying earlier.

Christ's Catholic Church is one and visible. The word Catholic even means "Universal". As protestants, they have their own churches. Some of these groups are Lutherans, Seventh Day Adventists, Pentecostal, United Church of God, etc. There was a recent study saying there's over 30,000 protestant denominations today, but they all claim to be the Biblical Christians. How can they be certain of their teachings and doctrines if there are different interpretations of that very same scripture? Did you know your church was started by some man or woman? Any of your churches has a date when it was started. Seventh Day Adventist was started by Ellen White. United Church of God was started by Herbert Armstrong. But Christ said he was going to start his church in roughly 33 a.d. This was interesting to me as a protestant. So, did Jesus really create more than one church? We'll look into that.
The church is one, and Christ said it will be here until the end of the age. Take a look at this consistent timeline: https://www.scborromeo.org/images/fig1.jpg

Christ's Catholic Church teaches both faith and works. As protestants, they believe in faith alone because it was a teaching by Luther. However, the bible does not teach this. In fact, he wanted to remove the book of James along with other Catholic books. The bible and the Catholic church fully supports both faith and works, and for good reason: If we have faith, it must be evident with the works of our hands. We will see why in the book of James that Luther wanted to remove, but he kept it because others insisted to keep it.

Christ's Church is commanded to practice confession, the sacrament of reconciliation. Does your church have confession? I had to realize that my church didn't. Strangely, Luther's church practiced it early on, but then it died out in the divisions to come with his church too. If your protestant movement leader, Luther, practiced it, then why don't you? Again, I found that the bible and early church writings confirm the practice of confession.
