1. A Prayer to Fear Not
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).
Dear God, my spouse and I are afraid of this new season of life. We have never been parents before! While this is a huge blessing, it is also something new. Please help my spouse and me fear not as we navigate parenthood. Even when we are afraid, we will trust in You.
Parenthood brings many new challenges, yet they are subtle blessings and reminders of Your love. When we wake up every two hours to feed our baby, may we remember You. When we are overcome with fear when our baby gets sick, may we trust in You. My spouse and I will no longer fear this present season, for You are with us. We praise You, God. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
2. A Prayer to Trust in the Lord
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Dear Lord, parenthood feels frightening, but I will trust in You. This is the first time my spouse and I will be parents, but we know we are not alone. You are with us, and you have surrounded us with wonderful mentors, parents, and friends. The blessings you have poured out in our lives are abundant. Thank You for being with us through this new season of life – we would be lost without you.
There are many things we do not know about parenthood, but we will trust in You. Guide us to glorify You in our parenting journey. When we do not know what to do, we will turn to You. Thank You for hearing all our prayers and surrounding us with Your grace. In Your Name, I pray, Amen.

3. A Prayer to Overcome Uncertainty
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).
Dear God, entering this new season of parenthood fills my spouse and me with uncertainty. How do we care for a newborn? What happens if we forget to feed our baby every two hours? What happens if we fail to be good parents? All these thoughts swirl in our heads until we feel dizzy.
Please bless us with peace to overcome these feelings of uncertainty. As we continue on our parenthood journey, we trust that You can help us become more confident. We have only started this strenuous journey – just because we are unsure right now does not mean we will feel uncertain forever. With time, we will grow in confidence. Thank You for cultivating trust, hope, and confidence within our hearts. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
4. A Prayer to Love One Another Amidst This Challenging Season
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:34-35).
Dear God, my spouse and I may lose our temper with one another during this new season of parenthood, but I don't want to hurt my spouse with my words or actions. Please help us to love one another despite this challenging season. I want to grow in my marriage, not to tear it down. Please help us to extend forgiveness, kindness, and love toward one another. Although some days may be tougher than others, I trust that You can help my spouse and me to grow in our marriage during this time.
Sadly, for many couples, parenthood causes them to drift apart. Please ensure my spouse and I grow closer rather than further apart. Help me to love my spouse, to cherish them, and to place their interests above my own. Thank You for loving me, God, and helping me to love others. In Your Son’s Name, I pray, Amen.

5. A Prayer to Become Godly Parents
“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (Deuteronomy 6:6-7).
Dear Jesus, my spouse and I are worried that we will not become godly parents. This is a major concern for us, and it often keeps us up at night. Please help us to become godly parents to our children and ensure we help them to grow in You. While we cannot force our child to place their faith in You, there are hundreds of ways we can shine brightly for You, help them learn about You, and become more interested in the Bible.
In everything we do, help us to bring You glory. You are our wonderful Savior and Lord; there is nothing that You cannot do. Although my spouse and I are afraid of becoming bad parents, You have full confidence in us. Thank You for believing in us even when we don't believe in ourselves. I lift you in praise today, Lord. Amen.
6. A Prayer to Train Your Child in the Lord
“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it” (Proverbs 22:6).
Dear Jesus, my spouse and I want to train our child in You. We don't want them to grow up with a secular worldview; instead, we want them to truly know You. Please help us instruct our child about You, cultivate their knowledge of You, and help them develop a heart after Your heart. Some days may be more challenging than others, but we trust in You, Lord.
Help my spouse and me model Your love to our children and to always point them back to You. Turn our hearts away from embittering our children or making them feel bad about themselves. I want them to know that they are loved and known. My spouse and I know what it feels like to be put down by your parents, and it is not something we want our children to experience. Thank You for giving us strength, guidance, and hope. Amen.

7. A Prayer to Grow in Your Walk with Jesus
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen” (2 Peter 3:18).
Dear Jesus, although we are entering this new season of parenthood, it does not mean we are stopping our relationship with You. In fact, my spouse and I want to grow in our walk with You throughout our parenting journey. Encourage our hearts to turn to You in prayer, study about You in the Bible, and apply the Bible in our lives. Parenthood is not the end of the Christian walk; it is a new stage of our journey.
When we are afraid, worried, or doubtful, help us to turn to You. We will grow in You, learn more about You, and point the lost world to You through our parenting. Even though parenthood might drain us at times, we will seek out shelter in Your loving arms. You provide us with rest and help us to grow in You. It is a wonderful blessing to belong to the Savior of our souls. In Your wonderful Name, I pray, Amen.
